Once the show came to a close, the final applause was heartwarming and rewarding. We made our way to the doors as the school population flooded out the doors and we were met by swarms of people crying and congratulating us. My best friend told me how proud she was of me and yes, I did ball my eyes out after that. It was truly amazing the feedback we received and it seemed as if most everybody enjoyed the show. That is really what matters after all is how we are able to touch people with our acting.
The audience took to social media and there were countless tweets and posts about how much everybody loved the well performed and well written production.
Later that night our final show in Windsor took place. We put on our parents show which again was a huge success. Some Lajeunesse alumni were in attendance such as Aidan Johnson-Bujold and Avery Dent, as
well as some La Troupe Royale alumni; Kaitlyn Labute.
I must admit, I am still a little awestruck and in disbelief that my last home show as a main actress for La Troupe Royale has come to pass. Thank you to Noecker for making a speech about it and making me cry. But hey, at least there is one last show in Kitchener in a month!
Which leads me to the question... What did you guys think?
WELL, judging by my emotional response, I think its only appropriate to say that I loved the play! Not only was it well written and performed, but the choreography and the original music took the production to a whole new level. Being able to see my friends and fellow classmates perform their hearts out only made my response stronger. It was obvious that you guys left it all on stage, and as a spectator I appreciate that!
ReplyDeletep.s. sorry I made you ball your eyes out ;)
Maddie, this play was easily the best one that Laj has ever done. I loved the mixture of emotion and offensive humor. Also, being a tough man, it's difficult to admit how beautiful it was. Everything was so well done, I still think about it. I can't even imagine how much work you guys went through to perfect it ! It's too bad we're in grade 12 and won't see you seniors that we've grown to love in the Laj plays.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the fact that I cried a wee bit during the play, I'd say it was pretty solid. I'm not proud of say that I usually get bored during school plays. The stories tend to be just sort of "blah" for me. This one, though.... Jeez, guys. You should've handed out Kleenex at the doors when we walked in. The mix of humour and absolutely heart-wrenching moments was so well done. Major props to everyone! Incredibly glad I got the chance to watch this play.
ReplyDeleteI feel so unalterably biased when I think about how much I love our show. Not only because Daniel wrote it, but because it was such a création collective and we all poured our heart and souls into the production. Backstage as I watch, I still find myself laughing and crying as if I were surprised at what has happened. Never had I ever felt so candid on stage before I placed myself in Evelyn's shoes. It is true what we have been told: Theater is fleeting. I feel blessed to have been able to touch people as we have in our microcosm of the world that is Parés au décollage?.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is WOW!!! When I say this play I was amazed at everything! I thought that it would be kind of repetitive to what I've seen in previous plays. And what I mean by this is that I thought it would be kind of predictable. However, as soon as you guys recited your last line of the play I was just blown away. I really enjoyed the play. All the actors, the props used as well as the story portrayed. Great job guys!!! I loved it!
ReplyDeleteAfter watching that play, I was left speechless. It was incredibly well written and well performed. It had an amazing storyline with a few little laughs here and there. All I can say is that this may be one of the best plays that I have ever watched. Congratulation to you all!
ReplyDeleteThis play was hands down the best. The story lines were things that we could see ourselves in, or know someone in that position. I was sitting with my best friend (The worlds biggest Cry Baby) And I have to say there were parts in the play where I too was crying, this play was like Mr Lebel said; Made for an older audience, people who will appreciate it, and I have to say, Lajeunesse appreciated it very much. Congratulations!!!
